  12.         NOTE:   The difference between the normal Morning Star
  13.                 (MORNSTAR.COM) and Morning Star XMS (MSXMS.COM)
  14.                 is that the former requires EMS memory and can
  15.                 draw several different designs and has a popup
  16.                 control panel.  The latter requires XMS memory
  17.                 and can only draw one design.  I'm still brain-
  18.                 storming on how to get Morning Star to be able
  19.                 to use XMS memory and still be able to draw
  20.                 several designs and have a popup control panel.
  21.                 This does not appear likely, though, for tech-
  22.                 nical reasons.

  25.  -- COMMAND LINE OPTIONS ------------------------------------------------------

  27.         /I      this option must be used to install Morning Star into memory.
  28.         /U      this option is used to uninstall Morning Star from memory.
  29.         /T      use this option to view the current settings.
  30.  
  31.         /-      disables Morning Star from automatically engaging; hotkeys
  32.                 still work, though.
  33.         /+      reenables automatically engaging after the time limit has
  34.                 expired; NOTE that /- and /+ are nestable:  ie, if you use /-
  35.                 twice, you must use /+ twice to enable Morning Star.
  36.         /D      disable Morning Star completely; even hotkeys don't work.
  37.         /E      reenable Morning Star (after using /D).
  38.  
  39.         /S      save a copy of the current settings.
  40.         /R      restore settings from a saved copy.
  41.         /R-     forget all saved settings.
  42.  
  43.         /Ln     set delay factor for line-drawing speed to n (0..1000).

  46.     The following switches can be turned OFF by following them with a minus
  47.     sign (-).  Options with a star (*) next to them are ON by default.
  48.  
  49.         /B      blanking only; never draw the design, just blank the screen.
  50.         /F      fade out to blank when blanking the screen.
  51.         /G  *   Ghost mode (see section "Ghost Mode").
  52.         /H      alternate method of blanking the screen; some VGA cards require
  53.                 this option to work correctly.
  54.         /M  *   watch for mouse movement or clicks and restore the screen.
  55.         /P      enable password protection; screen will not restore until the
  56.                 correct password is entered and [Enter] is pressed.
  57.         /V      watch for video activity and restore the screen; usually this
  58.                 is not necessary.

  60.         /Wn     sets time limit to n minutes; Morning Star waits until n
  61.                 minutes have passed without any activity and then engages.
  62.         /Zn     set which COM ports to watch; COM ports recognized are 1-4,
  63.                 use 0 to clear the list of ports to watch, eg. /Z1 watches
  64.                 port 1 and whatever other ports were already being watched,
  65.                 /Z01 watches only port 1.

  67.  -- HOTKEYS -------------------------------------------------------------------

  69.         [LeftShift]-[RightShift]  -  engage Morning Star.
  70.         [Ctrl]-[Alt]-[<]          -  turn Morning Star off (hear one beep).
  71.         [Ctrl]-[Alt]-[>]          -  turn Morning Star on (hear two beeps).

  73.  -- MSCONFIG ------------------------------------------------------------------

  75.         Use the program MSCONFIG.EXE to change the default settings and change
  76.         the password.  MSCONFIG creates a configuration file (MORNSTAR.INI)
  77.         which belongs in the same directory where you keep MSXMS.COM.

  79.  -- GHOST MODE ----------------------------------------------------------------

  81.         Thanks to a friend in Arizona (Gary Dobbins), Morning Star has a
  82.         special mode which makes it compatible with modem redialers and also
  83.         with networks.  Morning Star will allow DOS programs to continue
  84.         processing even while it is drawing the design.  It draws bits and
  85.         pieces of the design during the time when other programs are idle.
  86.         This means that you can leave Morning Star on while your terminal
  87.         program is dialing and it will draw the design until your modem
  88.         connects to another computer.  Then it will restore the screen for you.
  89.         Once you are connected, however, it will only blank the screen to avoid
  90.         interfering with high-speed file transfers.

  92.  -- IMPORTANT NOTES -----------------------------------------------------------

  94.     **  Never install or remove Morning Star from a menu system.  Always do it
  95.         from the DOS prompt (you can use a batch file if you want to) or in
  96.         your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.  (Don't do it from Norton Commander, either).
  97.  
  98.     **  Morning Star does not work in conjunction with Windows.
  99.         It automatically disables itself to avoid crashing Windows.
  100.  
  101.     **  If you have a modem and Morning Star is watching the COM port to which
  102.         it is connected, you will see the border color flash whenever the phone
  103.         rings.  Now you can wear headphones while working on your computer and
  104.         still "hear" the phone when it rings!
  105.  
  106.     **  DESQview - To use Morning Star with DESQview, set it to ignore the
  107.         mouse and always blank the screen (use options /M- /B).
  108.  
  109.     **  SuperVGA - Some SuperVGA cards (particularly those with Tseng Labs
  110.         chips) are *NOT* 100% IBM compatible, and there may be minor problems
  111.         when restoring the screen (eg. in Word for DOS, the background colors
  112.         may blink).
  113.  
  114.     **  GAMES - Most games are incompatible with screen savers.  It's a good
  115.         idea to turn off Morning Star (use option /D) before running video
  116.         games.
